Rosevale 55th Annual Sale - 27th September 2011

Rosevale 55th Annual Sale will take place on Tuesday 27th September, 2011. The sale is set to commence at 12 noon and forms part of the "Big Red Santa Week" including the "Dangarfield" Sale at Taroom, Wandoan Breeders Sale at Wandoan, and "Santa Central" Sale at Nobby.

On offer at Rosevale will be 157 bulls. All bulls will be Semen Morphology tested. All bulls will also be vaccinated with 7-in-1, for vibrio, 3-day sickness and redwater (with 3-germ blood).

The Rosevale Sale Team in 2011 will represent one of the highest performing mobs of Santa Gertrudis bulls available for sale in the year. The average June 2011 Santa Gertrudis Group Breedplan EBVs for the team of sale bulls is shown below:

The above EBVs rank the average Rosevale sale bull in the top 20% of the Santa Gertrudis breed for $Index values for both the Domestic & Export markets. This level of performance is recognition of the balanced approach to breeding embraced at Rosevale.

It is planned that a number of females will be offered at the sale also. At present, two cows and calves have been selected while a number of PTIC 'S' heifers and cows will also be catalogued once pregnancy testing is complete. These females represent some of the best genetics at Rosevale and the mating sires represent a selection of some of our top sires. Further details will be available by mid August.

Private Sales

As of August 1st, 2011 one hundred Rosevale bulls are available for private sale. Aged 20 - 23 months, these bulls have been grown out on pasture and are grazing forage oats at present and are ready to go to work in any environment. A big percentage of these bulls are natural polls. All bulls are vaccinated for Redwater with 3-germ-blood and for BEF (3-day sickness).

The bulls are priced to sell at $2,500 + GST. Please talk to us about selecting now and leaving your options open to purchase bulls at the Rosevale Annual Sale, with the selected Private Sale Bulls retained as backup.

The Greenup Family

George and Heather Greenup took up residence at Rosevale in 1944.

From 1883 until this time, Rosevale had been owned and managed by George's Grandfather, George Bassingthwaighte. George and Heather oversaw the development of Rosevale and other properties with the help of their family and staff. Heather passed away at the age of 63 in 1984. George remained active at Rosevale until five years before his passing in 2003, aged 86 years.

George and Heather had three children - Grahame, Jenny (Cooper) and Mary Ann (Atthow). Grahame, along with wife Peggy, took over the management of Rosevale and other associated properties and remains an integral part of the operation to this day.

Grahame and Peggy had four children- David, Richard, Peter and Sally. David and his wife Sonya live and work at Rosevale. Their three sons - Sam, Toby and Seb are a great hand around the place and represent the sixth generation of the family involved in the running of the property.

The Land

The Greenup Family runs a grazing operation over a total area of 12,000 hectares in South East Queensland, with the property "Rosevale" at Jandowae being the cornerstone of the operation.

There is a variety of land types ranging from light forest country to fertile, scrub country. Breeders are run on the forest country while young bulls and steers are grown and fattened on the scrub country. First-calf heifers are also run on the better country until their calves are weaned.

Dry land fodder crops are also planted to grow out young cattle and prepare bulls for sale.

The aim at Rosevale is to grow and prepare sale bulls off pasture with no grain feeding.

From Jandowae
At the Bowls Club, turn into Myall Street. At next crossroad turn right and follow road for 20 km. Do not take 'Old Rosevale Road'.

From Kingaroy
Through Kumbia 16.5 km towards Dalby, cross Spring Creek, turn right before power line and follow signs to 'Rosevale', 26 km. There will be one turn to the left after 13 km.
